Boynton Beach

Boynton Beach was founded in 1898 and was named after Civil War Major Nathan Boynton who had built the famous Boynton Hotel in the area. Boynton brought the first settlers with him from Michigan and began raising pineapples, tomatoes, mangoes, and citrus fruit which they shipped by the Florida East Coast Railroad to customers across the country.

The town was incorporated in 1920 as the Town of Boynton. The name was changed to Boynton Beach in 1941.
