Toilets are the most used and abused plumbing appliance in today's households. We all use them numerous times throughout each and everyday, yet ever take time to think about the toll this inevitably takes on them. Many may question how a toilet would become damaged; it's not so much the shell of the toilet that is the concern but the parts inside. Over time with normal daily use the parts inside of your toilet become susceptible to failure. A toilet is made up of numerous moving parts manufactured of rubber, plastic and/or metal. These materials all react and age differently from being submerged in water 24 hours a day. Most commonly the flapper and fill valve, which is the part that keeps water in the toilet until the handle is pulled, fails. Another common issue most of us experience with our toilets are blockages.
