Drink of the month:
Red White and Blue Frozen Sangria

Ingredients

Red Layer

  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 3/4 cup white wine
  • 1 Tablespoon cane sugar (or maple syrup)

White Layer

  • 2 1/2 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup white wine

Blue Layer

  • 3 cups ice
  • 2 ounces gin (rum or vodka can be subbed for gin)
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1 Tablespoon cane sugar (or maple syrup)
  • 1/4 teaspoon natural blue food coloring *see notes*

Instructions

Red Layer

  1. It’s easiest to blend this layer first because it stays thick. Add ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a large cup or jar and place into the freezer while you create the other layers.

White Layer

  1. Repeat the steps and set aside in the freezer.

Blue Layer

  1. It’s best to save this layer for last because it’s going into the glasses first.
  2. Add everything to the blender and blend until smooth.

Assemble

  1. Pour the blue layer into glasses, followed by the white layer, and finishing with the red layer. If you feel like being a perfectionist – which I don’t recommend – place a spoon on top of each layer as your pour in the next color. Personally, I think it looks pretty when the colors start to mix together. :)
  2. Serve and enjoy!

It’s almost Fourth of July weekend, and that usually means that many of you will be hosting parties at your home. Whether you have plans to barbeque on the grill, attend a neighborhood picnic or watch some fireworks, a few plumbing tips can save you from some of your worst party fears — a plumbing disaster!

1. Your toilet clogs!
If your toilet clogs the first thing you need to do is shut off the water valve located behind your toilet before it overflows. Find a plunger and carefully plunge the toilet. Once you’ve finished, turn the water back on and give the toilet a cautious flush to see if you dislodged the clog. If the water rises high, shut it off again and give us a call.

2. Be aware of what you’re putting down your garbage disposal.
Our first piece of advice: don’t use your garbage disposal as a waste basket! Fibrous foods and starchy vegetables are difficult for the blades to grind!!

3. What do you do if your ice maker stops working?
There are many possible causes as to why your ice maker might stop working. First, check to make sure the water is flowing and there's not any kinks in the line. If water is flowing and there’s not kinks, give us a call and we’ll help you figure out for you.
